Pearson Professional Centers
Level 14, 300 La Trobe St, Melbourne
Pearson Professional Center is very popular among students. Possibly because it is run by the people who designed PTE (Pearson’s Test of English). The seats are arranged in a good, L-shaped position so there is little background noise from other students. If you’re lucky, you can get the seat that is slightly separated from all the others!
Warning:
Some past students of English Key have reported that Pearson’s computers have crashed during the exam. Fortunately, their test was automatically saved, and they could continue it on another computer. However they did have to go through the same question again, and they said this lost them a couple of minutes. Hopefully Pearson have since corrected this problem.
Pros:
Not too noisy
Good headphones
Cons:
1 report from a student of computers crashing (but hopefully this has been fixed)
Very popular, so booking a test can take a while. If you want to take the test here, make sure you book well in advance.
Cliftons Melbourne
Level 1, 440 Collins Street, Melbourne VIC 3000
Cliftons Melbourne does have the best seating arrangement. The seats are set in lines so it can be quite noisy. If you are easily distracted by others this is probably not the best option for you. However, if you do go, the best seats to get are the ones at the start and end of each line (so you only have one person beside you).
Pros:
One of the oldest centres in Melbourne (so they are more experienced)
Cons:
Can be noisy (according to some students)
RMIT English Worldwide
Level 10, RMIT Building 108, 235-251 Bourke Street, Melbourne
RMIT English Worldwide has a good seating arrangement so there is minimal noise interruption from other test-takers. However it is a very popular centre so the rooms are always full. Also this makes it harder to book a test – you may have to wait a month.

Good equipment
Good seating arrangement
Cons:
Can be hard to book a test – it is very popular so many people book well in advance. If you want to take the test here, make sure you book ahead of time!
Melbourne Polytechnic
Building E, Level 3 Room 315, 77 St Georges Road, Preston
A relatively new centre. Reportedly quieter than other centres, but this could be because it is not in the Melbourne CBD but in Preston. Still, it is very accessible by car, train, tram or bus. The website provides excellent information on how to get there.
Pros:
Quiet
Easier to book a test soon
Cons:
Outside of the Melbourne CBD.
